Dog Breeds - Utility Group
The Utility Group of dogs comprises dogs designed for a specific non-working, non-sporting purpose, and dogs that do not fit comfortably into the other breed groups. It also includes dog breeds designed for a specific, now-redundant purpose such as the Dalmatian which was originally bred as a war dog in its native Dalmatia (Croatia), and was later further developed in England as a coach or carriage dog. Many international breed organizations in fact call this group the Non-Sporting Group, a term used by The Kennel Club in the UK until its adoption of the term Utility Group in 1967. From this group come many of the more successful showring breeds and popular companion dogs. Mexican Hairless (Intermediate) |
