A compact and muscular dog from the Utility Group of dogs, the Boston Terrier was developed in the United States around 1870 by Robert Hooper of Boston, Massachusetts. Originally bred as a fighting dog, today's considerably smaller Boston Terrier is a favourite companion dog.
